Scrape by the Lake 2004 lowrider show, hosted by Rollerz Only CC was the biggest to date, with vehicles coming to the Niagara Falls area from all over Ontario, Quebec, New York, Pennsylvannia, Michigan and New Jersey. Again, Charles Daley Park on the beaches of Lake Ontario, was the site of the 5th annual show, the largest lowrider event in Canada. Lowrider Magazine, Minitruckin and Performance Auto + Sound were all on hand to cover the event for their magazines. The day started early as cars began registering before 8am, and the main show area began to fill up quickly and was jammed to capacity by noon! Exhibitors were greeted by the day-long beats provided by DJ's Cianide and Medikill from the main stage. The field was mixed as usual, with a large contingency of lowriders, sport compacts, trucks, suv's, old school and blinged out rides. Over 500 vehicles this year! The weather was amazing...not a cloud in the sky and a nice breeze off the lake! Around 11am, the spectators began pouring in, totalling more than 5,000 in all. The vendor's area offered something for everybody. Hip Hop performances by Kronic Illness, Spek-tak, Pistol Pete and Apocalypse got the crowd going. At 3pm, the annual "Hop What You Got" hydraulic/air hop off and dance comp started at the lower part of the park in the hopping pit. Thousands jammed the hillside area to get the best view, and were not disappointed. In the Double Pump class, $500 was at stake and Pete Reibel of Rollerz Only CC, took top honors with a 49" effort, in his chromed out black 63 impala! In the Single Pump class, Clyde Girdharry of True Playaz CC, and in his 80 Pontiac Lemans, tied All That’s Saj Patel’s 80 coupe deville to split the cash with 37". Luxury Hop was won by Eric Vlasic in his 76 Buick. The truck hop cash was won by Chris Siddal from SLC with a 48" mark – on air! In the open Dance Competition, Don McGarry's 90 Mazda, of 2nd Glance CC, defended his title for the 4th consecutive year! All in all, it was a great hop, the previous 2 year old hop record of 43” was finally beaten. The crowd favourite Bikini Comp followed on the main stage, and Jessica took the win and the cash! Once the judging sheets were tallied up, the awards presentation followed. This year, more than 65 classes were awarded more than 200 trophies. Car clubs cheered as their members accepted the hardware. This year's show could not have happened without the support of all the clubs, the exhibitors, the vendors and the sponsors, and we'd like to thank them all for their continued support! Most of all, this show could not exist without the countless hours of help from Debbie, the Scrape by the Lake staff, Erin, April, the volunteers, the judges and the Rollerz Only club members....big thanks goes out to all of them!
